… Lee Fields & The Expressions put together “My World“… and it’s a KiLLER of an album.
I’ve been spinning the 7″ for a little while, but it’s always a refreshing surprise when an album matches it’s feelers.
I’m about to get all geeky on Mr Fields and do my research… but his voice is killer, he replicates James Brown in a truly justified fashion on “Money i$ King” and pushes the current trend in vintage drum patterns and funky basslines recreated by a modern band…!!
… and once you’ve had your Lions share Lee Fields expressions, fall into “Machine Dreams” with Little Dragon….

The Expressions is really Leon Michels and his El Michels Affair crew.
You’re right though, it’s a top album, def one of my favs of 2009 so far.
