SOIL&PIMP SESSIONS // POP KORN

by alexpatchwork on March 15, 2010

Japanese punk-jazz renegades SOIL&”PIMP” SESSIONS bust back in 2010 with their sixth studio album on Brownswood Recordings. The sextet’s roof-raising, festival-conquering live show (dubbed “Death Jazz” in a two-finger salute to Japan’s polite, noodling, straight ahead jazz cognoscenti) has earned them new fans at every stop on their annual trailblazing European tours. ‘6’ finds SOIL&“PIMP” in blazing hot form. The album highlights the band’s consistent progress in their misson to seek new sounds and push the envelope. Purists, anoraks and haters beware, the PIMPs are back and they ain’t leaving ‘til you show them the respect that they deserve.

A limited edition 10” featuring ‘Pop Korn’ b/w ‘Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag’ is released on 12th April 2010. The album ‘6’ follows on 26th April 2010 (CD and digital download).

Loving the new video. Reminds me a bit of the HSBC airport ads. But better :-) Looking forward to the London gig!
