To put this in perspective, I’m by no means a jazzer… I don’t own a flat cap, I smile and nod appreciatively when Gilles enthuses about this or that pianist or percussionist from days gone by (but hardly ever know whom he’s referring to). In fact, what I know about jazz you could probably write on the back of an envelope. I do have a beard though. Anyways, to get to the point, I first saw SOIL&”PIMP” SESSIONS at Worldwide Festival 2009 in Sete and up to that point had been fairly dismissive of their output. Then they completely blew me away with one of the best live gigs I’ve ever seen. So much energy, presence, raw talent and a ridiculously tight unit. I will sing these guys praises all day. GO AND SEE THEM LIVE!! But be careful that they don’t melt your face.
