Cheers Gilles P. Really looking fwd to listening to this. Love that Sonny Red album; especially “Tears” – which I recall playing at Weegee’s fickle formula night a couple of moons back – big tune. Looking fwd to checking “Love Song”.

In spite of your heavy schedule/workload it’s really nice of you to make the time to give us all your quality podcasts. Respect!

All the best with the mini canadian/north american tour.

Mal Waldron Sextet “Portrait of a young mother”

I’m now on my 6th rewind. Hauntingly beautiful jazz. Stunning MUSIC. Whose the lady ‘scatting/humming’ in the back grounds? Love the way she ‘ends’ the tune. Nice one Gilles P.

soon-come

Whow what a great playlist. I love the Mal Waldron track. Beautiful.

Do you know the wonderful “Winnie Mandela” – Song from Sathima bea Benjamin. It is a pity that Winnie Mandela is a kind of “no go area” now….because this song from Sathima is a hit !

THANKS for the beautiful music and all the best,

Michael

Hidden track is the fabulous version of “come sunday” by Stanley Cowell! A
quality blend of the best there is!

Les Fisher January 8, 2011 at 9:52 am

Of course it isn’t “Come Sunday” you idiot. Next mix in my ipod playlist begins with that track, and I wasn’t paying attention!!! Idiot! Would love to know what it is though? Typically it’s the only track in the mix I don’t know! Cheers Gilles!
