Gilles Peterson Worldwide Vol.3 No.12 // Kon & Amir

by Mumblz on November 17, 2010

Two kindred spirits join Gilles in the studio for in-depth chat, laughs and the sharing of marvellous music. Kings of diggin’ Kon & Amir both share Gilles’ voracious appetite for record collecting so there are plenty of killer tunes spun here, including a bunch of the duo’s own special DJ reedits.

That Shuggie track is NICE! Amazing to think that labels refused to put it out. Good music usually surfaces in the end though. Looking forward to seeing that on Wax Poetics in the future…

    Thank you! Tracklist available??

  • alexpatchwork

Re. tracklisting – there isn’t one right now I’m afraid. I’ll try to extract one from Gilles but I can’t promise anything. Sorry.

Incredible podcast Gilles…. Very interesting to hear how these 2 cats dig deep into music….pure archeology! And really modest guys…… I take my hat off.

Is the first song Evans Pyramid – Never Gonna Leave You? I’ve got it in my mind that it is that but I’m often wrong

  • Guy B

Yep – first track is definitely Evans Pyramid. But what’s the second track? Need to know!

  • Dean

    Great sounds.

But that Shuggie and another from the session have been available since 2001

Gilles – what a brilliant podcast, kept me smiling all the way into work on a No 8 bus during the tube strike (wasn’t a happy bus otherwise). Only downside is not being able to get your hands on much of what they played. Respect to the love of the music.

  • Mike G

Anyone know what the california track/artist is? The one I am referring to is the one Gilles played right before the stumper track. It’s gotta a nice little groove to it.

  • Michael

mans, loved that hooked on you edit you made guys..

  • OM

love this….”letting off some some of kon and amir’s specials”.

  • grace

who sings that last track? The lyrics “i like the way you do it, i like the way you move…I’m feeling good. I want to keep dancing. Get up…”

  • Waermelon

It’s Lisa Warrington – ‘I Like The Way You Do It’ from 1984 – Rereleased on PPU!!
