Gilles comes correct yet again with the ninth instalment in the much-loved Bubblers series. Shining a spotlight on under-the-radar talent the world over, Bubblers returns with a line up as diverse and exciting as the record bag from which they came; a musical barometer to gauge the sound and stars of 2013.
We’re profiling the artists featured on the compilation. Next up: Marc Brown who produced Max’s track ‘Devil Woke Me Up This Morning’.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself please. Who are you, where are you from etc.?
I am Marc Brown the producer and co writer of the Max track, ‘Devil woke me up this morning.’
I am a Camden man, Londoner.
How would you describe your music?
My music has a dub influence in most of the music I do. I like music with vibes, I’m not really into slick sounding production. It’s all about the heart and soul, that’s what really matters.
Where do you draw your inspiration?
John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Hemeto Pascoal, Luis Eca, Tom Ze, King Tubby, Lee Perry, Yabby U, Marvin Gaye, Roberta Flack.
What releases / gigs are out there or coming soon?
Have an album coming out by “The Shed”, executively produced by myself and Chris Franck
Pushaway… a track written and produced by myself, Reggae 7 out soon on Tuff Scout records
