Deft // ARTIST FOCUS // BROWNSWOOD ELECTR*C 4
April 17, 2014
Ahead of the fourth installment of the Brownswood Electr*c compilation, we catch up with the artists through a series of questions about themselves. Here we have for you, Deft – listen to his track “Breakdown” below.
What are you up to today?
I am meant to be working, but I’m just watching videos of people who are reeeally good with After Effects..
Who is your ultimate electronic pioneer?
Vangelis is one my favourite composers, and he’s definitely pushed things into highly sophisticated, strange and interesting places with synthesis and electronic music. Combined with his general outlook on life, he really helped to shape the a lot of contemporary sounds and attitudes towards music.
What did you want to be when you were little?
Depends on how far we go back.. lol. But the first I can remember wanting to be was a Teacher, and I can tell you that I 100% don’t want to be that now.
Describe your music in seven words?
Percussive /bottom heavy, dynamically diverse, sometimes energetic.
What’s your favourite studio snack?
You know, I dont really snack in the studio, I do drink a lot of tea though. So lots of that.
If you could go in the studio with anyone dead or alive who would it be?
Barry White, I don’t know what would come out, but it would be so crazy, haha.
With someone who is still with us now, I’d have to say Vangelis, I reckon we would make some high powered, immersive music.
Where can people go to hear more from you?
http://deftmusic.com is where you’ll find most my social networks and musics but just incase..
