Gilles Peterson // Significant Album // #131

November 14, 2016

We’re continuing the countdown of the albums that have shaped Gilles Peterson so far. The album this week is Obnoxius by José Mauro.

Released in 1970 on the late producer Roberto Quartin’s label, and very recently reissued on Far Out Recordings. This is a true Brazilian gem, an important record for Brazilians Music aficionados. Reflective, at times dark, textured, melancholic and free flowing jazz. Sometimes a political outcry, other times a sentimental internalisation, both peaceful and disturbed.
