JAKE FERGUSON & MALCOLM CATTO

Where in the world…

…are you now?
In our analogue studio in Hackney keeping warm next to all the valves and tape machines

… inspires you
London – where else can you meet people from all walks of life with amazing individual stories to tell?

— have you done your best performance?
Probably at the Worldwide Festival playing as The Heliocentrics in the amphitheatre in Sete a few years ago. There was a crowd invasion onto the stage and the atmosphere was amazing. Playing Japan with a crowd that was literally tripping was great too. And the Barbican with Mulatu Astatke was also a stand out classic for us.

… has the best food?
Anywhere with real home cooking. We always get treated well on tours especially when there is an in-house cook at the venue but the motorway service stations get a bit samey after 1000 miles of driving!

… has the cutest boys and girls?
We’re all married, pretty much, so that’s a tricky question that we can’t answer!!

…do you go to escape
Who wants to escape when life is so precious?

… do you most want to go?
To the future to see if they will be churning out the same old boring formulaic chart music.

How many languages can you say hello in?
As a whole band we cover a lot of bases – with influences from many parts of the world including China, Caribbean, Africa, France, Spain, Portugal, and Cockney to name a few but it always comes in handy to know how to communicate visually without words at times!!!
