The Worldwide Awards are an annual celebration of the leftfield underground; as Gilles puts it; “They were set up to celebrate a side of the music scene that often gets ignored.” Saturday 17th January 2015 marks the return to London’s KOKO and the 10th anniversary of the event. Acts already announced include Taylor McFerrin, Clap! Clap!, Lil Silva, Fatima + Eglo Band and Nikitch and so is shaping up to be a mighty line-up in honour of this milestone.

Drawn from the multitude of award categories presented on the night, the heavyweight Album of the Year and Track of the Year awards are launched to the public vote as of Monday 1st December. Gilles has curated a long list of contenders for both categories and it’s up to the people, who wins.

Following an incredibly successful partnership for the Worldwide Awards Afterparty last year, Footpatrol and Gilles Peterson Worldwide are back again for the main awards event and to present the “The Footpatrol Track of the Year Award” for 2015.

The Track of the Year award has previously been bestowed on Lone for “Airglow Fires” , Andrew Ashong & Theo Parrish for “Flowers” and Jamie XX’s tight remix of Adele’s “Rollin In the Deep” – public voting will launch early December to decide the winner worthy of “The Footpatrol Track of the Year Award” for 2015. The voting platforms for The Footpatrol Track of the Year will be accessible via Gilles Peterson Worldwide and Footpatrol networks.

The Album of the Year award was presented to the wonderful Jonwayne for “Rap Album One”, Stubborn Heart for their self-titled debut, and heavy-hitter SBTRKT – so the winner for 2015 will join a tasty looking hall of fame. Voting is available exclusively via www.gillespetersonworldwide.com

The voting season kicks off with a NTS Worldwide Awards special with Gilles himself, spinning tracks from all the contenders on Tuesday 2nd December from 2-4pm.
