Dibia$e’s track ‘Remind me Somethin’ is next up on Worldwide Family Volume 2. Following impressive drops for Fat City and All City records, Dibia$e is rightly compared with Madlib, Dilla and a whole heap of slump-funked producers who’re taking inspiration from ’80s boogiesoul and computer games; the ambient sound of half-remembered innocence.

We caught up with Dibia$e…

Introduction?

I was born and raised in Watts,CA Which is in Los Angeles .I currently reside in Sacramento,CA now which is near the bay area. I’m dont really label my music, because it has heavy elements of hip hop, soul, a lil electronic, glitch and combine it all like voltron. But i would definitely say my sound is raw as it gets.

Influences?

Vintage RZA, Jay Dee, Erick Sermon, A Tribe Called Quest also alot of bossa nova music like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendez, also some jazz influence like Ahmad Jamal, Bill Evans, Cal Tjader. I can listen to that all day. Plus alot of my friends in the beat scene random beat tapes they dont release gets rotation too so that also pushes me to improve constantly. The freestyle dance scene also inspires my music alot

Forthcoming?

Well it should be a busy year. Planning on many releases on my label with my wife Nasrockswell it’s called 10THIRTY got distro through Fatbeats. So expect nothing but vinyl releases throughout the year. Also plans of finally going to Australia / NZ for a lil tour. Also Europe for the first time as well.
