New club opens in Tokyo // ELEVEN

March 5, 2010

Gilles often said that Club Yellow was one of the best clubs in the world. It was the home of dance music lovers in Tokyo and the club had such a big impact and made history in Tokyo’s dance music culture.

Francois K., Joe Claussell, Timmy Regisford, Frankie Knuckles, Laurent Garnier, Theo Parrish, U.F.O., Toshio Matsuura, Gilles Peterson… and many many DJs loved it there!

June 2008,

The club had to close down for undisclosed reasons relating to the owner of the building… maybe the lease or something?? What a big disappointment it was! All the DJs you could imagine from all over the world came to Tokyo to say goodbye and accomplish their final spin at Yellow.

I missed it and everybody missed the place where you can truly enjoy dance music.

2010,

Good news hit the world of dance music! The club is now open again as a new venue called

Eleven!

No one touched the interior of the Club Yellow whilst it was closed. So passionate people had put their effort together to renovate it and made it possible to open a venue there again. Opening night was with Mr.Francois K who gave the very very final spin in club Yellow.  There are minor changes inside – only nicer. I heard that there is a toilet behind the DJ booth – good for DJs! haha!

For the courtesy of Eleven, I am happy to show you the new look of Eleven on this blog.

Hey Gilles, we are excited for you to be in Tokyo at Eleven on April 3rd. We are ready for the journey!
