August 23, 2012

Notting Hill Carnival is finally here… and to get you in the mood we have carefully selected our top sound system tip-offs to visit over the bank holiday, accompanied by a mix of some of our favourite Carnival anthems.

Aba Shanti-I

On the corner of East and Southern Row Aba Shanti-I has been selecting only the finest in heritage and roots reggae since the 70′s. Legendary.

Digital Soundboy

Shy Fx’s Digital Soundboy label takes over the Sir Lloyd System on Monday afternoon. Featuring David Rodigan, Redlight, Benji B, Zed Bias, Eats Everything and a whole heap of thoroughly modern bass-orientated DJs.

Rampage

At the Junction of Colville Gardens and Colville Terrace – Rampage returns for 2012, certainly one of the more lively spots! Check out Bashy killing it at Carnival ’08.

Good Times

At 54 Leamington Rd Villas, Tavistock Rd – Good Times does exactly what it says on the tin… good time riddims! Eclectic music selection headed by Norman Jay MBE and Rudy Ranks.

Channel One Sound System

At the Junction of Westbourne Park Rd and Leamington Villas Rd – strictly roots and culture for over 30 years and still going strong. These guys played Worldwide Festival in Sete back in July and absolutely killed it.
