Snaps from Brownswood x Land Of Kings

May 5, 2011

Last weekend was something a little special; aside from the 4 day binge on our poor livers we celebrated the grandest event in British history. We are of course referring to Brownswood taking over Vortex Jazz bar at the Land of Kings festival!

The 2 days festival based in Dalston witnessed acts across a dimension of genres. While The Ragga Twins performed a dynamite set to dancehall fiending punters at Effys, across the road Funkineven’s threw down an acid indulged industrial techno set at The Nest. Elsewhere, impassive hipsters screamed like little girls to highly anticipated sets from 2manydjs, Romy XX and Paul Thompson.

Brownswood at Vortex also caused a great deal of excitement. Zara McFarlane and her chic band delivered a superb set as the room was moved by their soulful jazz. Gang Colours got it on with his emotive driven rhythms, dabbling around dreamy 4/4’s and tranquil brokenbeat 2step, providing a perfect crossover in to Ghostpoets live set. Packing out the room, the sleepy linguist charmed the crowd with his spoken words, as captivated audience mimed out verse after verse. Alex Patchwork, Mumblz and The BPM also played a fine selection of uncooked beats for our listening pleasure.

Here are a few snaps to give you a glimpse of the night.
