Elevator Music

December 17, 2009

“A collation of all the variant strains of dubstep; a completely original and exclusive collection of future bumps that reflects the embracive nature of fabric’s dancefloor music policy.”

Couldn’t have put it better myself. Continuing to branch out from its sterling compilation series (fabric and fabriclive) this new CD, released on 18th January 2010 shines a little light on the blurred fringes of dubstep, techno and so-called UK funky… the spaces inbetween… or as Untold declares: “The interesting stuff is coming from producers exploiting the grey areas, building tunes that are dubstep by accident.”

‘Elevator Music Vol.1′ features 110% (yeah – 110) exclusive cuts from some of 2009′s most exciting producers – Martyn, Starkey and Untold – alongside a whole bunch of upstarts entirely disinterested in playing by the rules. Some of them have already snuck in to Gilles’ playlists – Julio Bashmore and Doc Daneeka for example. The rest are relative unknowns destined to make their presence felt in 2010.

Like I said, you’re not gonna get any of these joints anywhere else and the quality control here is hella strict. fabric has its fair share of haters, but there ain’t no hatin’ on this selection. Representative of the up and coming talent that has rumbled through Room 3 in 2009, props where props are due – ‘Elevator Music Vol.1′ is essential listening. Bump it.
