The “Searching for the Perfect Beat : Future Bubblers” initiative, funded by the Arts Council, is an extension and development of a concept that has always been at the core of Brownswood Music and Gilles Peterson’s values. The music policy at Brownswood Recordings is incredibly eclectic – it crosses genres, continents and eras of influence.
“Future Bubblers” is set to come and FIND the best in new music, specifically that which falls between the cracks,
stylistically speaking….this is about rooting out the most exciting and innovative music creatives in each of the “Future
Bubblers” cities and uplifting them. Showing them there is a community of music appreciators, a “Future Bubblers”
family that are here to support and guide them.
The first stop on this journey on Friday 10th April, is the official media, press and general music heads launch of the
project in the city of Nottingham, at the newest vinyl haven in the city, Rough Trade Nottingham. The aim of the event is
to introduce the initiative, explain the project’s intentions and provide an important audio reference via the specially
curated live performances and DJ sets – for those who will be viewed as local ambassadors of the project; the
people oN the ground that will be able to directly inform, encourage and recommend Future Bubblers applicants.
Beyond developing the music makers in the city, Brownswood also have plans to join together with existing
supporters of this type music in the city – so working with Future Bubblers Partners in and around Nottingham;
working with these partners is so important in the creation of sustainable music scenes; it’s not about Brownswood
and Gilles invading these places as the all-seeing, all-knowing London aficionados.
For this launch event, Brownswood Music have worked closely with local music supporters and connoisseurs Mimm
[Music is My Motive].
