April 15, 2011

With Record Store Day fast approaching (Saturday 16th April)… boxes of records are piling up here at Brownswood HQ. Among the stacks of wax, we have some signed 12” from Jamie Callum and Four Tet in addition to a hefty chunk of Strictly Rhythm 12″s spanning the 90s, plus rare XX album boxsets generously donated by XL and a whole raft of wax donated by GP during his recent move.

Ever wondered what gems Erykah Badu or Thom Yorke have stashed in their vinyl collections? This is a chance to get first dibs on some unique pieces , so get down early. Featuring special guest DJs, art installations and more, CAMP (on City Road, adjacent to Old Street roundabout) will be transformed into an African street fair designed by Brownswood resident visual artist Josephine Ade Chinonye Chime.

The Theo Parrish remix of Owiny Sigoma Bands’s Wireswill also be released exclusively for Record Store Day on 12”. The Owiny Sigoma Band LP will be released on May 2rd (vinyl/CD/digital), but pre-orders are now available exclusively from the Brownswood Online Store. Those who pre order the LP will receive a free download of the album on the Friday before official release and get a chance to win an exclusive print of the album artwork, signed by Owiny Sigoma Band!
