Worldwide Awards 2014 // First Acts Announced…

October 17, 2013

We’re returning to KOKO on Saturday 18th January 2014 for a night of very special live performances, DJ sets and one-off collaborations from both new and heritage artists championed by Gilles throughout the year.

The first acts confirmed for the Worldwide Awards 2014 are:

The Ghanaian-British singer-songwriter whose first release ‘Flowers’ was voted Track of the Year at last year’s Worldwide Awards. Since then he’s collaborated with Theo Parrish, Tony Allen, ESKA and Dave Okumu and is poised to release his highly anticipated second solo EP of cosy, honest blues and soul.

The LA-based rapper/producer whose early 8-bit arpeggios and boom-claps populated the DJ sets of Gaslamp Killer, Kutmah and co. Framed against the backdrop of the WEDIDIT Collective and the international notoriety of the Low End Theory club sessions, he released an instrumental album ‘Bowser’ and a rap mixtape ‘I Don’t Care’ in 2011, prompting Peanut Butter Wolf to sign him to Stones Throw. His official debut rap album ‘Rap Album One’ drops on 29th October 2013 and is set to be one of the records of the year. He’ll make his London debut at the Worldwide Awards.

Kyodai are the Berlin-based brotherly duo who have released a string of killer club trax via such respected imprints as Local Talk, Pokerflat, Freerange and Exploited, ensuring that their deep, driving, jazz-inflected productions have been a staple in Gilles’ DJ sets throughout 2013.

More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
