Worldwide Premiere // Jam Band 80 – Jammin’
June 16, 2016
Following the lead set by Kindred Spirits with their Surinam Boogie and Disco compilation, Rush Hour have just announced a compilation that also seeks to shine a light on the dancefloor sounds of the little-known South American island. Compiled by Antal Heitlager & Thomas Gesthuizen and in the works for over four years, Surinam Funk Force, collects a range of highly collectable and rare 45′s and LP cuts from the 70s and 80s.
Originally released on JAM as a B-side to the single ‘Funky Reggae Violin’, ‘Jammin’ is a salacious boogie number, cooked up with quick-fingered bass work, female harmonising and guitar solos. When originally released in the early 80s, the single topped the charts in Surinam and Trinidad for weeks and now, thanks to Rush Hour’s diligence, we can own it on vinyl again and get on down like it’s the 1980s.
Surinam Force Funk is coming soon on Rush Hour – pre-order from their website.
